8GB RTX 5060 Ti Shows Major Performance Gaps Compared to 16GB Version, Review Reveals
The reviews for the 8GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti have finally arrived, and they reveal why NVIDIA may have been trying to stop these reviews from being shared earlier. Performance tests with the more affordable 8GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti show a big gap compared to the 16GB model.
NVIDIA’s Attempt to Hide the 8GB RTX 5060 Ti
The Hardware Unboxed channel revealed that NVIDIA had been blocking some of its partners from sending out the 8GB RTX 5060 Ti for review. They even bought a unit themselves to test and compare it to the 16GB version. The performance results from their tests show a huge difference between the two versions, especially in Horizon Forbidden West. In this game, the 16GB version was 350% faster on average and 589% faster in the 1% low frame rate.
The differences in texture quality between the two versions are also noticeable, with the 16GB model performing much better.
The VideoCardz website also organized a comparison chart based on the tests, highlighting the major differences in gaming performance between the 8GB and 16GB models. It’s clear from the results that the 8GB version is not up to par with its 16GB counterpart.
RTX 5060 Ti 8GB Gets Strong Criticism from Reviewers
In their review, Hardware Unboxed described the 8GB RTX 5060 Ti as “instantly obsolete.” They argued that NVIDIA has tried to bury the reviews to push gamers into upgrading their hardware sooner than needed. They also mentioned that it might be hard to resell the 8GB version of the card, even within just two years.
“In conclusion, the 8GB version of the 5060 Ti is the worst trap we’ve seen for mainstream gamers,” said the review. The criticism points to NVIDIA’s strategy to hide the poor performance of this model and suggests that similar tactics may be used for other upcoming RTX 5060 cards.
