Crysis 3 will launch with high-res textures and more

When Crysis 2 launched, PC gamers were pissed off – Crytek’s CEO promised they’d pushed boundaries, but the game launched without DX11, or high-resolution textures. It took months for the patch to be released, and even then, it didn’t look mind blowing – not how the original Crysis did when it was launched as a PC-exclusive years beforehand.

Good news is here with Crysis 3, though, as the developer will be including high-res textures in the launch of the game. On top of this, there’ll be plenty of customisation available at launch, where you can change the following settings:

  • Game Effects
  • Object
  • Particles
  • Post Processing
  • Shading
  • Shadows
  • Water
  • Anisotropic Filtering
  • Texture Resolution
  • Motion Blur Amount
  • Lens Flares
PC Gamer talked to Marco Corbetta, the Technical Director on Crysis 3 who had some juicy tidbits to tease with the world. Corbetta mentioned that: “Crysis 3 will already ship with hi-res textures, advanced graphics settings, tessellation and DX11 support. Additional tech areas that have been enhanced since Crysis 2 are: AI navigation system, animation system, water, fog volumes, cloud shadows, POM, AA, cloths, vegetation, particles, lens flares and grass.
