Electronic Arts ‘Feels Very Good’ About Battlefield 6 Launch After GTA 6 Delay

Yesterday, Electronic Arts officially announced that the new Battlefield game (known as Battlefield 6, at least until its official name is revealed) will be launched before March 2026. This timeline will become clearer as the launch day gets closer, with a big presentation planned for this summer.

The announcement of the Battlefield release window came just days after GTA 6 was delayed to May 2026. This delay led to questions during a recent investor meeting about how this change in plans would affect Electronic Arts’ plans for their new shooter game.

Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts, explained that changing release dates for major projects like Battlefield is not an easy decision. However, he also expressed relief, stating that the delay of GTA 6 has actually cleared up the schedule, giving Battlefield a better chance to stand out as it deserves.

“We’ve been building towards a window, that we thought made the most most sense for Battlefield, but we wouldn’t launch into a window that we thought truncated the value that we’ve invested into the franchise or the value that we think our players will derive from it once they jump in and start playing.” Wilson explained.

Now, with GTA 6’s delay, Battlefield has a clearer path ahead. Electronic Arts feels confident and happy with the current situation, with Wilson adding, “I think now, without going too far, we believe that window is clearer than it was before, and we feel very good about launching Battlefield in FY ’20 ’20 ’6.”
