Nintendo Switch 2 Surpasses the Total Sales of PS5 Digital and Xbox Series X|S in Japan
The Nintendo Switch 2 is selling like hotcakes, with sales currently limited only by the fact that the console is out of stock in most stores. In Japan, the numbers are truly record-breaking.
As confirmed by the latest sales data published by Famitsu, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 1.1 million units within the first ten days of launch. To put this into perspective, in this short period, it has already surpassed the total sales of the PS5 Digital and Pro versions and the Xbox Series X and S, which have been on the market for nearly five years.
Nintendo Switch 2 vs. Other Consoles in Japan

As of June 15th, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 1,101,136 units, compared to 975,486 for the PS5 Digital, 221,181 for the PS5 Pro, 337,811 for the Xbox Series X, 320,762 for the Series S, and 20,854 for the Xbox Series X Digital.
Clearly, the Nintendo Switch 2 is still far from the 5.7 million units of the standard PS5 sold in Japan, but if it continues its current positive trend, overtaking it is only a matter of “when,” not “if.”
In the meantime, according to a report, third-party games on Nintendo Switch 2 are seeing significantly low sales, although higher than those seen at the launch of Switch 1.
