Nintendo’s President Says Diversity is Very Important for the Company

Doug Bowser, the President of Nintendo of America, shared that Nintendo takes diversity very seriously. He confirmed that the company has not changed its approach, despite the political positions expressed by Donald Trump’s administration.
Bowser discussed the topic during an interview with the Brazilian newspaper Folha. He acknowledged that many companies reconsidered their policies after Trump’s election, but Bowser emphasized Nintendo’s commitment to staying on a certain path.
Attracting Diverse Talent
Bowser mentioned, “We always want to attract the best talent we can and retain that talent.” He also pointed out that it is important for these talents to come from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. This is because Nintendo’s players are also diverse.
He added, “So we strive to have a diversity that reflects our players in our organization. This is something that has been in place for years, before people really started using the acronym DEI [diversity, equity and inclusion]. And it will continue to be in place. It’s important to us.”
Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo’s new console, Nintendo Switch 2, is set to be released on June 5. There is a lot of excitement around this launch, especially with the ongoing discussions about the price of the platform and its games.
The Switch 2 will be the first new hardware release in the current global market. This market has seen prices rise dramatically, rather than decrease over time due to production optimizations.
