NVIDIA and MediaTek Prepare to Unveil Arm Chips for PCs at Computex 2025
NVIDIA and MediaTek are set to reveal their new Arm-based processors aimed at the PC market. According to reports from ComputerBase, the announcement will happen during their respective keynote speeches on May 19 and May 20 at Computex 2025 in Taipei. These chips, named N1 and N1x, are the result of a partnership between the two companies.
The N1 and N1x Chips
The collaboration between NVIDIA and MediaTek was initially focused on a high-performance chip, the GB10, designed for the DGX Spark workstation meant for artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. However, rumors suggest that a version of the GB10, tailored for consumer PCs, might be showcased at Computex. The N1 and N1x names have been mentioned before in job postings by Lenovo, hinting at the development of Arm-based hardware platforms.
These chips are expected to have a reduced number of cores, between 8 and 12, and come with 16 to 32 GB of RAM—much less than the original GB10. This makes them more suited to consumer PCs, while still maintaining the performance needed for everyday use.
With the introduction of these new chips, NVIDIA and MediaTek aim to provide more efficient and powerful solutions in a market that’s increasingly seeking new ways to improve performance. These chips could help shape the future of PC processors by offering an alternative to the traditional x86 architecture.
