NVIDIA’s RTX 50 Series Finally Appears in Steam Survey, But Doesn’t Make a Big Splash

NVIDIA RTX 50

Finally, in the latest Steam hardware survey, conducted in April with millions of platform users, the NVIDIA RTX 50 series GPUs have made an appearance. These GPUs have been expected for some time, considering it has been four months since their release. However, the adoption rate is still quite low, as none of the new GPUs are in the top positions.

Are the High Prices Holding Back Adoption?

There are also the AMD RX 9000 series GPUs, which have not yet shown up in the survey, despite the excitement from potential buyers. Could they be facing major supply issues?

That being said, NVIDIA still leads the GPU market with a share of 74.39%, while Intel leads the CPU market with 60.35%, closely followed by AMD. Some new GPUs have made their mark among gamers, according to the Steam hardware survey, including the RTX 5080 (0.38%), RTX 5070 Ti (0.28%), and RTX 5070 (0.38%). These percentages may seem small, but considering the number of Steam users, this still translates to hundreds of thousands of units.

Missing from the list is the RTX 5090, the most expensive GPU, which is definitely not for the average user. As mentioned, the AMD RX 9070 series GPUs are also absent, which is significant since it was one of the company’s most successful launches. Overall, NVIDIA is still on top, despite the many shortcomings of this generation.

The only new AMD GPU to show up in the survey is the RX 7800 XT, which sits at 0.27% (the same as the 5070 Ti). The RX 7900 XT, 7900 GRE, 7600 XT, and 7600 are all missing, as are almost all of Intel’s Arc GPUs, which don’t seem to have gained much traction despite their competitive pricing.

For reference, the most used GPU is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop, followed by the RTX 3060 and 4060 for desktop PCs.
