Samsung 9100 PRO 2TB PCIe 5 M.2 SSD Review
A Closer Look

Samsung has kept this drive looking pretty slick and tidy, with its matte black finish and ever so slightly wonky sticker on the back; I won’t send it back for repair to straighten the sticker, I suppose I can live with this thing I’ll never see again.

A key factor of this drive is the single-sided design, with all the NAND and the controller on the front side, which is going to make it easier to cool the drive. Furthermore, it also keeps the drive slimmer, ensuring it is compatible with more laptops, handhelds, and even the PlayStation 5.

There’s a small sticker over the drive, but it’s mostly just that, a sticker, rather than one of the fancier graphene top layers. That being said, a high-end drive like this belongs in a proper mount with a heatsink anyway, and that’s the best way to ensure optimal performance for the drive.
