Samsung Plans Huge Investment in U.S. Manufacturing
The controversy over tariffs imposed by the United States is still ongoing, although it has been temporarily paused. According to the current President of the United States, Donald Trump, Samsung will soon announce a massive investment to build factories and manufacturing plants on U.S. soil. Trump described this investment as a result of his tariff policy.
Expansion of Samsung’s Operations in the U.S.
It seems that Trump is in talks for trade agreements with countries like India, South Korea, and Japan. These agreements aim to bring more companies from these countries to the United States, joining companies like Apple, NVIDIA, and TSMC. It looks like Samsung will be the next major company to move its operations to the U.S., with Trump expecting to sign an agreement with the company very soon. In fact, the deal could be finalized as early as next week.
Samsung plans to expand its facilities in Austin, Texas, which will complement its existing project in Taylor, also in Texas. This project might be ready by 2027, depending on the support from President Trump, and it will focus on advanced technologies, including the 2-nanometer nodes that many manufacturers are targeting. There are also rumors that Samsung might shift some of its home appliance manufacturing to the United States as part of the tariff agreement with South Korea.
